Many people believe that Stuart Errol “Stu” Ungar was one of the greatest poker players Golden-Crown-Casino-Australia.com of all time and that without doubt he was the best No-Limit Hold’em player that ever lived. He was born in 1953 and was exposed to gambling very early as his father was a loan shark who ran a bar/gambling club.

He took to poker and gin rummy with ease and became an unstoppable force in the 80s. Ungar is one of only two people to have won the World Series of Poker Main Event three times and the only person to win Amarillo Slim’s Super Bowl of Poker three times, the world’s second biggest pro poker tournament during his time. While he’s known for his record wins he’s infamous for his attitude, energy, well-timed bluffs and playing style. Ungar was ultra-aggressive and routinely criticised out loud the people he played against.

He was arrogant and habitually abused his dealers. While Ungar made millions during his career he died with no assets to his names and didn’t even own a bank account. He’s known for his famous quote: “I never want to be called a ‘good loser.’ Show me a good loser and I’ll just show you a loser.”
